the reasons why i think captions are important and the situations where it is most needed - documentaries, TV shows, Movie and video clips need captions because it is better for a viewer to understand the content in terms of accents, speech disorder or low frequency of sound. captions are essential for leaning kids, hearing impaired as well as students with English as a second language needs because it enables them to look up a word such as on a dictionary as well as being able to pronounce them.
After reading through the other ideas and the resources on the cap that website, I thought it would be useful to introduce audiovisual materials into the physical education and health subjects.
Captions are a really useful way for all students to spell the complex Latin muscle names and the audiovisual resources are a really engaging medium for students to understand how the muscles work. Using the attached video for year 7 and 8 classes, I can show the video to the class and pause on particular words and pictures to show how the muscles work.

• Students will devise a presentation for younger students on how the animals of inhabitants of the Antarctic survive using photopeach. In the process, students undertake a detailed observation of animals of the Antarctic.
We have students in our school that are hearing impaired, ESL, LBOTE and Special Needs. Our school sees captions primarily as improving learning outcomes by assisting information acquisition and reading skills. Literacy with ICT focus (Grade 2): Read a story online from the website and ‘hide’ the captions. Discuss feelings towards story, listing key ideas. Show students target vocabulary that they will have to look and hear for in the story.
We filmed the activities suggested on capthat.com.au with different classes. The student’s responses were inspiring and reflective of how captions assist their learning.
